Hello, I’m Alice (Slice) the designer & maker behind Slice Shades. With over ten years experience in design, I wanted to create lighting that feels personal, original, and lasting. From my Liverpool studio, I hand wrap discarded frames in vibrant yarn, transforming them into one-of-a-kind lampshades. Each piece is functional art made for homes that value individuality & thoughtful design with an eco-conscious nod. Slice is here to bring you bold lighting that feels like it was made just for you.
Slice was born during my own house renovation, when I realised lighting should feel as considered and expressive as the rest of a space. I wanted shades that felt closer to functional art and pieces that celebrate individuality, colour and thoughtful design.
Each lampshade begins with a discarded frame sourced from local thrift shops. I rebuild these forgotten structures by wrapping them, strand by strand, in carefully chosen yarn. The process is slow and intentional, resulting in unique designs of stripes, texture and personality and no two pieces are ever the same.
Crafted in my Liverpool studio, every Slice Shade reflects a fashion-led approach to colour and form, with an eco-conscious nod through circular making. Small-batch, handmade and created with care, they’re designed to feel like they truly belong in your home.
